This car has been privately owned in Virginia for the past 14 years and was previously purchased from the original owner’s estate in Florida. We just purchased this lovely 1956 Ford Thunderbird while looking for an E-bird for a customer. Originally, the T-bird was designed as a competitor of the Corvette, but with it’s larger body, sleeker lines, and roomier interior, it was dubbed a sporty, personal luxury car and was loved by the masses. V8 motor and it was the first year of 12 volt. Few changes were made to the 1956 model, other than the optimal upgraded 312Cu. When sales first began in 1955, over 16,000 were sold and the Thunderbird was deemed a success. 50 years and 4.4 million Thunderbirds later, this car has built a long reputation of reliability and comfort.
